Payback!

Got even with mom for the "ET incident" last night. Couldn't wait until I start babyfood, so it wasn't green peas, but I think I did manage a 360 with my head and spewed! And to top it off it was at 2 AM!!!

That'll teach her!

FREE AT LAST!

I AM DISCHARGED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bili was at 11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm requesting an unlisted number...

Ok, it is not cool to "treat" a newborn who has spent 10 of 14 days on Earth either on top of or under bright lights to a viewing of ET, but that is exactly what mom and big sis Laura did last night. It was bad enough having to have blinders velcroed to my head, but now that the lights are finally out, I'm freaked out that Laura might have some little creature in her closet that's trying to "phone home" or that my finger is going to start glowing!

I guess we'll celebrate my rolling over or gaining better motor control of my neck with a viewing of poltergeist!

On a "brighter" note (got to love the "light" humor)... had my 2-week well-baby check today. As expected, my bili level was up a bit since we are off the light. Still on the frequent flier program - have to go back Thursday. I got to see Georgia P. at the doctors' office today. She uses a different doctor, but they are in the same office. Mom and us girls were going by to meet everyone at dad's work, but it came a FLOOD in Tupelo, and mom had to get us fed, which turned out to be drive-thru at Chick-fil-A.

Well, we'll have another chance to see dad's office Thursday - on our way back from the CLINIC - UGH!!! (we better - I heard dad say that Georgia P. was there today!)

Off to work on motor skills - They say that arms and legs are supposed to be controllable. Mine are, I just don't know who's in control of them.

LIGHTS OUT!!!!!

12.8 - FINALLY WILL GET TO SLEEP WITHOUT BILI-BLANKET!

Sunday, May 25, 2008

You've got your weekend help and holiday help, but

holiday-weekend help is the worst! Even at the follow-up clinic! The lady in the lab was excellent, as always. BUT the "on-call" Dr. - we'll call him Dr. I. (not my pediatrician and this visit only reinforces why he's NOT), apparently was too busy to answer pages and then lazily walks into clinic after an hour long wait... UGH!

Then the nurse... you know, even at nearly only 2 weeks old there are some people that just make you want to spit formula on them - she's one of those! She's not really done anything to deserve this, but she just..... I don't know, anyway.

My reading was down to 14.7 and Dr. I insisted that we come back tomorrow EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A REGULLARLY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT with MY pediatrician on Tuesday.

They say life has its ups and downs

Well, my weight is UP and bili is DOWN!!! 15.8 Still on the frequent flier program at the clinic though.

Ugh!

Ok, Laura (big sis) always tosses the White Crayon when she gets a new box because it doesn't show up when she uses it. Personally, I growing fond of the idea or making the color yellow illegal! I AM TIRED OF HEEL PRICKS - Prick is an understatement - it it an 1/8 inch slice!!!

5/21 - 1:00 PM 15.1
5/23 - 1:30 PM 17.4
Of course we are on the little bili-blanket at home and not at NMMC.

They have also started feeding me somthing called "formula" - not too bad... But I like the real stuff better.

Hopefully today's 3:30 SLICE will be a little better. We'll see.

Oh, pool boy....

Hope this tan pays off in the end.

SO FAR....LIFE'S A BEACH!

After 2 screw ups in the lab, I finally get to leave. First they didn't get enough blood (I should be nearly out by now) then they misread the reading 13.5 not 13.0 but Dr. G (my pediatrician)still sent me home to lay IN MY OWN BED on my bili-blanket.

Trust me - the four walls were starting to close in on me. Not to mention mom. Sis and Dad got to escape to school and work today. BTW - anybody see dad on the news? He got to play County Administrator/Chancery Clerk today: Wheels were out of town.

I should be able to get dad to post some pictures of my "beach vacation" tonight. He's busy right now "cooking" supper (aka waiting on the pizza guy - Ms. Marla and Ms. Kim are providing supper tonight - THANKS!!!)

9:30 am 5/15/08 19.0
10:00 am 5/14/08 12.5

NOT GOOD!

OK - Jaundice sucks!

It is absolutely nothing like a princess! For the 3rd day in a row I've had my heel sliced open and "milked" for enough blood to float a battleship.

And now they've put me back in the hospital for phototherapy - I know, it sounds like I'm not making good pictures, but it is not that at all. (see slide show below)

I am laying on a bed with purple light on my backside an yellow on my front. As Michael said - not good colors for a REBEL BABY! The one good thing, I have eye patches on and can't see this tragedy.

On top of that, since I have to be nekkid - except for diaper, it is 100 degrees in the room and mom, dad, and Laura feel like it is the middle of August and someone forgot to pay the electric bill!

Ok- back to therapy.

There was an old lady who swallowed a fly...

Check out this trick, it looks like I've swallowed a fire fly when you turn out the lights!

Apparently, a jaundice is nothing like a princess because I had to get my heel sliced open and blood drawn to check mine today. It is also apparently like golf in that the lower the score the better. My score was up from yesterday and I got the cool light to lay on. Dad has started calling me buttercup!

Anyway - I get to go back to the clinic tomorrow to have my jaundice level tested. I may get to lay in their tanning beds at the nursery for a little bit.

I'll keep everyone posted.

Don't adjust your monitor....

">

OK - so maybe I over did the emphasis on "color"... Seems I am now a nice shade of yellow.

Who is this Billy Ruben everyone keeps talking about? And what is a jaundice? Apparently I'm a little one cause everyone keeps saying "She's a little jaundice." Is that something like a princess?

The doc said to put me in indirect sunlight to help correct my color. Sounds like a road trip to me since it is SUPPOSED TO RAIN FOR THE NEXT 3 DAYS!!!

I got to visit with Georgia P. today before we left the Women's Center - her mom works with my dad and we have the same birthday!

Then I got to see the big truck I've been hearing for months - I like it! Only problem is I see more of where I've been than where I'm going.

Well it's time to flag mom down again.

Hello, nursery....

Mom and Dad would like me to thank all of you for your congratulatory messages and a special thanks to all of those who have visited me in the hospital.

Technically, I'm not "on the clock" until Friday, therefore, I'd like to finish having my "me-time" but mom, dad and Lou - (sidebar: name a kid Laura and call her Lou, why? And who the heck is Ray? Do I have a twin?) insist on "playing". I've been tickled, poked, kissed, patted, bounced and rocked! (The rocking I don't mind so much, does not interfere with the me-time too much.

Honestly, if I could lift the phone I'd call the nursery and have them come get me! I think I'll just close my eyes and find my happy place. I have to grunt every once in a while so they don't poke me to make sure I'm still breathing - good grief, I'm not the first baby these people have had!

Laura, excuse me "Lou" has been very sweet. I like the way she kisses me on my nose and rubs my cheeks.

Tomorrow, I get to go home to Pontotoc - yep, I beat the new house here!

Dad hasn't been too impressed with my playing possum, so there aren't any new pictures to post from today. I may throw him a bone tomorrow - we'll see.

Thanks again for all the well-wishes and I look forward to seeing everyone real soon.

COLOR ROCKS!!!!

Here are my color prints! Much better than the B&W sonogram ones.

Here we GO!

Finally - Mom and dad should be taking me to the Women's Center right about now.

I can't wait. I finally get some room to stretch out!!! For the past nine months, three weeks, four day and five hours I've been really cramped! Well, not so much at first, but boy these last few weeks have been tight. It got to the point where I didn't even have room to get the hiccups! (Which I often faked - just to mess with mom)

Now I've got to start learning faces to go with the voices I already know.

Big sis Laura will be easy - if she's as in-my-face as she has been here recently. (She reads to me every night - I think I already know the "Clifford the Big Red Dog" series by heart)

Mom, that one's easy too - it's like we've known each other all my life. hehehe

Dad, easy he's the one telling Laura not to poke me, or sit on me, or fuss at me or baby-talk in front of me, or cry "cause everything you do she'll do." (Yeah right, just wait and see - I've got tricks up my sleeve she's never thought about) And if he's not doing that I can tell which one he is cause he snores at night. Mom does to, but I think I was causing part of that... or at least let's hope so.

Then there are Meme, Dede, Grandmaw, Grandaddy and Grannie Dot - It may take me a little to sort this lot out. Don't see them as often as we used to - something about diesel prices and a big truck I hear we own - I do like the sound it makes and the heated seats are nice on cold mornings, but I digress... Maybe once we get moved to Tupelo there won't be so much commuting and we'll have travlin' money.

Then there are the cousins, Morgan and Molly. I can't wait to play with them.

Well, that's all I've got time to post today. Looks like it is going to be a busy day.

Wireless Reception not so good in womb

Ok - I've got to have a talk with dad. The wireless reception in my room at the new house has got to be better than in this womb. hehehe

It is the night before the "Big Day" everybody is about to go to sleep so we can get up at 4:00 AM and go to Tupelo - I'm glad to see I'll get to keep my regular hours once I get out of here.

Anyway, just thought I'd start posting tonight (I've got a lot of catching up to do - Laura has about 80 posts on her blog)

I hope she's been a good big sister and posted a link to my blog on hers. If not, only me and dad are reading this. (he proof's everything I type - he's a little over-protective don't ya think)

Well - off to bed - which is baby code for time to poke mom some more. yippee!

I'll leave you with my entire photo ablum to date. Not much to look at, but I get upgraded to color tomorrow - no more black and white dots! I told you the reception was bad in here!
